Selon vous, quelle est la chose la plus excitante dans le fait que l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Mount Royal (UMR) a r\u00e9cemment renouvel\u00e9 son titre de Campus Changemaker? Pourquoi croyez-vous que ce travail de changement est si important?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>J\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 ravi de voir la vaste gamme d\u2019initiatives et d\u2019activit\u00e9s qui se d\u00e9roulent sur notre campus et de constater \u00e0 quel point le travail de changement fait partie de notre identit\u00e9 collective. Je suis fascin\u00e9 de voir que notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 a adopt\u00e9 ce terme, et tr\u00e8s heureux que les professeur\u00b7e\u00b7s et les \u00e9tudiant\u00b7e\u00b7s de l\u2019UMR continuent de consid\u00e9rer le travail de changement comme un aspect cl\u00e9 de leur apprentissage. Le travail de changement s\u2019inspire de nos valeurs pour am\u00e9liorer la vie d\u2019autres personnes, pour investir dans la possibilit\u00e9 de vivre une bonne vie, et pour assurer un avenir meilleur.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #c41425;\">2. Quels liens voyez-vous entre le travail d\u2019autochtonisation, de d\u00e9colonisation et de changement au sein des \u00e9tablissements d\u2019enseignement postsecondaires? Pouvez-vous d\u00e9crire comment cela se passe \u00e0 l\u2019UMR?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Le changement \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle syst\u00e9mique est un travail collectif qui exige une vision, de l\u2019\u00e9nergie et de la patience. La r\u00e9conciliation en \u00e9ducation, qui consiste \u00e0 renouveler les rapports fond\u00e9s sur des trait\u00e9s et \u00e0 s\u2019engager \u00e0 les respecter, est \u00e0 la fois un objectif et une d\u00e9marche. Nous connaissons les cons\u00e9quences du colonialisme sur les syst\u00e8mes de gouvernance et d\u2019\u00e9ducation, les \u00e9conomies, la spiritualit\u00e9 et la sant\u00e9 des Autochtones. Il peut \u00eatre difficile de reb\u00e2tir des rapports \u00e9thiques fond\u00e9s sur des trait\u00e9s, et nous avons besoin d\u2019\u00eatre investis et pr\u00eats \u00e0 analyser de quelle mani\u00e8re le pouvoir et le contr\u00f4le ont entrav\u00e9 ou emp\u00each\u00e9 la r\u00e9ussite des \u00e9tudiant\u00b7e\u00b7s autochtones. Nous devons trouver des moyens d\u2019affronter le pass\u00e9 et de nous diriger vers un avenir favorable \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9panouissement des droits et de l\u2019autod\u00e9termination des Autochtones. Plusieurs gouvernements, \u00e9tablissements et organisations sont en voie de le faire, et l\u2019UMR poursuit sa route en ce sens.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019UMR est remplie de professeur\u00b7e\u00b7s et d\u2019\u00e9tudiant\u00b7e\u00b7s qui s\u2019investissent avec passion dans le travail d\u2019autochtonisation et de d\u00e9colonisation. Voici quelques-unes de leurs initiatives\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tisser des liens avec les a\u00een\u00e9\u00b7e\u00b7s et les gardien\u00b7ne\u00b7s du savoir des communaut\u00e9s du territoire du Trait\u00e9 7.<\/li>\n<li>\u00c9laborer les initiatives curriculaires en partenariat avec les peuples autochtones.<\/li>\n<li>\u00c9tablir des partenariats de recherche, d\u2019enseignement et d\u2019apprentissage avec les communaut\u00e9s autochtones au pays et ailleurs dans le monde.<\/li>\n<li>Soutenir activement la r\u00e9ussite scolaire des \u00e9tudiant\u00b7e\u00b7s autochtones.<\/li>\n<li>\u00c9tablir des partenariats entre les professeur\u00b7e\u00b7s et les a\u00een\u00e9\u00b7e\u00b7s.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>La communaut\u00e9 de l\u2019UMR m\u00e8ne plusieurs initiatives depuis d\u00e9j\u00e0 plusieurs ann\u00e9es; or, son \u00e9nergie et son d\u00e9vouement n\u2019ont pas d\u00e9clin\u00e9. La communaut\u00e9 universitaire a continuellement appris, et il est maintenant temps de renouveler le Plan strat\u00e9gique pour les Autochtones. Je suis toujours prudent lorsque vient le temps de parler de succ\u00e8s, car je vois l\u2019autochtonisation comme un p\u00e9riple et de l\u2019enseignement. Veuillez noter que le travail effectu\u00e9 sur le campus est caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par une grande humilit\u00e9 de m\u00eame qu\u2019une volont\u00e9 d\u2019apprendre et de nous am\u00e9liorer \u00e0 partir de nos efforts collectifs.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #c41425;\">3. Qu\u2019est-ce qui vous procure l\u2019\u00e9nergie n\u00e9cessaire pour faire votre travail de leader du changement?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Je puise mon \u00e9nergie dans la passion et la d\u00e9termination qui rayonnent de ce campus pleinement engag\u00e9 dans le travail d\u2019autochtonisation. Je suis stimul\u00e9 par le soutien dont b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient les initiatives en cours. Outre les initiatives de r\u00e9conciliation, le travail des agent\u00b7e\u00b7s de changement se concr\u00e9tise de plusieurs autres fa\u00e7ons sur le campus. Je peux voir \u00e0 quel point le travail de changement se manifeste dans les travaux en classe, la recherche, les \u00e9v\u00e9nements, les c\u00e9l\u00e9brations et le leadership des \u00e9tudiant\u00b7e\u00b7s.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #c41425;\">4. Que lisez-vous actuellement?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Je suis en train de lire Colonized Classrooms de Sheila Cote-Meek, et je suis en train de relire les appels \u00e0 la justice d\u00e9coulant de l\u2019Enqu\u00eate nationale sur les femmes et les filles autochtones disparues et assassin\u00e9es alors que l\u2019UMR se pr\u00e9pare \u00e0 revoir la Strat\u00e9gie pour les Autochtones. Je suis aussi en train de lire Moon of the Turning Leaves, et le prochain livre sur ma liste est Wandering Stars de Tommy Orange.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #c41425;\">5. Comment \u00eates-vous devenu un haut dirigeant? Et de quelle mani\u00e8re le travail de changement a-t-il influenc\u00e9 votre parcours?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Mon parcours a \u00e9t\u00e9 influenc\u00e9 par une volont\u00e9 d\u2019apporter une valeur ajout\u00e9e, de rendre service, et de tisser de bonnes relations dans le cadre d\u2019un travail qui est intimement li\u00e9 \u00e0 un espoir d\u2019un meilleur avenir. J\u2019ai travaill\u00e9 dans le syst\u00e8me d\u2019\u00e9ducation, d\u2019abord au niveau secondaire. Je suis entr\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019UMR en tant que directeur du Centre Iniskim, puis on m\u2019a confi\u00e9 des responsabilit\u00e9s plus vastes sur le campus avant d\u2019occuper des postes de haute direction. Ce parcours m\u2019a apport\u00e9 de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience, et il me donne la chance de travailler avec plusieurs dirigeant\u00b7e\u00b7s au sein de l\u2019universit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Je reconnais l\u2019influence de mon grand-p\u00e8re dans le travail de changement que je m\u00e8ne. Son acharnement au travail, son engagement \u00e0 travailler pour son peuple et son sens des responsabilit\u00e9s sont des valeurs que je retrouve en moi. Cela se voit dans ma fa\u00e7on de travailler sur le campus et de faire du b\u00e9n\u00e9volat dans la communaut\u00e9 calgarienne.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #c41425;\">6. Quel conseil donneriez-vous aux leaders du changement en \u00e9mergence et aux personnes qui essaient de transformer leur \u00e9tablissement d\u2019enseignement?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Le changement syst\u00e9mique est un processus lent qui repose sur des efforts collectifs que nous investissons sur une longue p\u00e9riode. On a parfois l\u2019impression que ce travail se r\u00e9p\u00e8te, qu\u2019il perd son \u00e9lan, puis de nouveaux alli\u00e9\u00b7e\u00b7s et collaborateur\u00b7rice\u00b7s s\u2019impliquent. Je pense que par nature, les syst\u00e8mes se r\u00e9pliquent et sont durables.
